Los Satellite Awards son los premios que otorga la International Press Academy (IPA) a lo mejor del cine y la televisión del año. Los ganadores se darán a conocer el próximo 19 de febrero en Los Ángeles, una semana antes de los Oscar.

La La Land, con un total de trece nominaciones, encabeza la lista de la 21ª edición. Hacksaw Ridge ha conseguido nueve, dos más que Moonlight y Manchester by the Sea, que han empatado a siete. Hidden Figures, que se llevará el premio al mejor reparto, ha obtenido seis.

La seriedad de los Satellite en cuanto a su valor predictivo en la carrera, se mide por cosas como que Eddie Murphy tenga más nominaciones que Arrival. Y es que, Murphy ha entrado en la categoría de actor de reparto, mientras que la cinta de Villeneuve se ha quedado a cero.
